We are given lots of choices to make in our lives starting from our youngest of years. Some are trained others are tested and tried and sometimes do not turn out as we would hope that they do.
Do you like Jesus? Will you take Him? It is not a condemning question, just a simple yes or no. Either you say yes or no.
Seeing many funerals through the years one might want to ask if this were your funeral would you be in Heaven? Take that answer from your answer to the original question. Would you be seeing Jesus in Heaven at the pearly gates?
We have many choices to make in life and THE most important one is “will you walk the walk of faith with the Lord Savior Jesus Christ”?
Back in the younger days I was tempted to pass a “puppy love” note to girls I found some attraction through a friend asking “do you like me?” with a check mark listed as to which one she might pick and send back. Do you pick me? This could have been passed through a locker or placed on the desk of that someone. You remember these days of innocence. It of course was the days of finding out who we were and who we wanted to be with.
This was at a time when as a boy going through puberty and found that coexisting with the opposite sex just wasn’t that bad.
I have found myself not being able to listen to rock music that I once listened to on the radio nor any news talk radio. I felt that some of this music and chit-chat was not what I wanted to have in my head and soul. My Christian, easy listening music soothed my heart and made me feel more alive and more relaxed and loving than at any time in my life. It also took out most of the hate I was experiencing privately and some times on social media.
Since I have mentioned “which way for you” let’s look at a pet peeve of mine, or two. Why is it that driving through a Wal-Mart parking lot or any other named mall or retail parking lot do we go up a lane that is designated by the parking space itself as a one way? Once out of vehicle and head to the entrance the doors are clearly marked as “enter” and “exit” yet there are those they proceed in and out of whichever one they so choose. Why is “which way for you” means one can choose to do or go whichever they want? That, of course, is one’s choice. And this will lead us to that question of our faith.
I hope that making these decisions is one that is spiritually mature and I want that choice to be one that will lead to a deeper relationship with God. We tend to try to cover our bad decisions up or we try to make the results come out right even though we have made a bad choice. What we need to do is admit that we made a mistake and ask the Lord to teach us how to make the right choices from now on. And that is what the Lord does in His Word.
Following the path towards God’s place is a narrow one because He protects us with wise boundaries. Which path are you traveling? When you choose the narrow way your life truly begins and you will be forever grateful you did.
The Book of Proverbs tells us we plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it. Prov 16:9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. It pays to take life seriously.
While I have made some rotten choices in my life, like this one that I describe in my book and the redeeming side that took place in the next couple of paragraphs:
…….along with the one in early 2014, have traumatized my
family. They have had to tolerate many such episodes and help me fight
to get through them. I call these episodes diabetic demons. At first glance,
having type 1 diabetes may seem tragic; it certainly has added drama,
difficulty, and intrigue to what could have been an ordinary life. But God
has a way of turning what appears terrible at first into a tool He uses to
pour out His amazing love and grace on me and the people He puts in my
path. And that’s exactly what happened that fateful day in January 2014.
I should have died, but God planned to turn another tragic event into an
opportunity for hope and change
But, there are still other opportunities for you to redeem yourself and correct those mistakes that we all make. Remember that being a Christian does not mean that you are perfect yet you admit this and turn to Him to lean on. We all should act like Jesus and not like other Christians.
God, too, has provided me not only the time to recover and heal my
wounds, but also the time needed to get The Night That Changed Our Lives
together, so I can share what a privilege it has been for me and my family
to be used—and blessed—by God through these trials. This has been an
grateful that He has.
An awakening has taken place. What it has boiled down to is this: I
shouldn’t, nor will I, allow this opportunity to slip away. After spending
time near death, for the second time—after all that I just went through and
the miracles—I figured it was finally time for me to listen. I might very
well have squandered the chance after my horrible bone-crushing accident
ten years ago. Not this time: There is this thing called a new lease on life
for a reason. I believe the events of Snowmageddon were God’s wake-up
call, and it was time for me to answer. I want to be the kind of disciple and
leader who actually follows Him as He works out even pain and suffering
for my good.
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 KJV. You see, the decisions that I make daily all of my life, I want to make these to be all spiritual. I choose every day to follow Christ.
