This country has seen itself moving in a bad direction for a long time but it has been in a major downward spiral since the presidential debates, election and subsequent inauguration. Issues of abortion, women’s rights, and immigration have stepped forward once again in an ugly way.
Many want to blame the newly elected president for some of these wayward actions being taken across the U.S. Many are just downright silly, idiotic while most are childish, boorish behavior. Many on the side of President Donald Trump have declared that all of the actions he has taken has been because they were long overdue while the previous president was in place and was never duly covered. Many believe that Mr. Trump is saying and doing exactly the opposite of what the atypical political insiders would say. The “political correctness” (pc police) language is no longer in play here and his actions have been no holds barred. I felt the need to take the kid gloves off and have at it. Let’s lay it all out in the open.
As a message, tying everything to a core goal of “making America great again” was certainly a winner. Part of what made it so successful lay in how open to interpretation it was: what does it actually mean to “make America great again?” The answer depended on who heard it. Some took it as more favourable trade arrangements. For others it meant a stronger military. Or tighter border controls. Or all or none of the above. Now, usually we wouldn’t score such a nebulous message very high – but this campaign was anything but usual. There were obviously far more factors at play than just this bumper sticker slogan, not the least of which was Trump being able to successfully avoid spelling out exactly what his vision was and how he would achieve it. But regardless, this thing just plain worked. It resonated with Trump’s target audience – voters who felt disenfranchised, let down and frustrated by systems that didn’t seem to work for them anymore. And it gave him a rallying cry that motivated those voters to turn out at the polls (whether you agree with the electoral college system or not). The message connected, it resonated, and it drove a response.
It has reached a point of sheer lunacy. Be reminded that in some cases it is all hypocrisy. President BHO had insults hurled his way too. We all want our candidate to win-one that we feel suits our beliefs and values and can lead. Many take offense or as an insult when their candidate does not win their election. Some will tell you that this change in presidency is a lot like a toll booth operator who gave back the wrong change.
California Governor Ronald Reagan once told a reporter who was covering riots on the campus at UC Berkley “All of this began the first time some of you who know better and are old enough to let young people think that they have the right to choose the laws they would obey as long as they were doing it in the name of social protest.” Many of our current protestors are wearing masks to protect their identity. Cowards really. They also choose to throw items through car and store windows including law enforcement vehicles and trash the areas they are in. The most recent protests on the Berkley campus is almost totally opposite of the reputation that it gained its fame for. The idiots rioted against an individual to give his perspective on what is happening in the political arena these days. So in the 60s they believe in free speech-protecting the 1st Amendment yet in 2017 an individual cannot share his beliefs for them to hear. And to boot, a gay white man who dates a black man and he is on the most liberal college campus in America. Hmmm.
We not only witnessed schools being shut down and testing cease on college campuses across the country but so-called “cry rooms” established to help cultivate and ease their minds while grieving the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s astonishing defeat at the hands of Mr. Trump. It was a total meltdown of epidemic proportions. One that was quite disturbing to see many grown adults act in such a shameful way. Millennials, well, that is another subject for another day too I am afraid. Words could not describe how vile this movement has become.
Abortion has and will be a sore subject in the U.S. Basically we have authorized the murder of an unborn child. Some say that this sanctioned medical procedure is of necessity. And others ask “well, are you going to be the one to adopt all of these ‘unwanted’ children?” This is an unnecessary argument. To kill is just wrong in the first place. Abortions are being paid for out of federally subsidized premiums. That is taxpayer funding for abortions. If abortion is merely about women’s rights, what are the unborn rights?
Margaret Sanger has been lauded by some as a woman of valor, but a closer look reveals that Planned Parenthood’s audacious founder had some unsavory things to say about matters of race, birth control, and abortion. An outspoken eugenicist herself, Sanger consistently promoted racist ideals with a contemptuous attitude. These ideals were focused on eradicating a human race-colored Americans to be more precise. Excerpts out of her books speak for themselves and they are not very flattering.
This country had millions marching for women’s rights. Rights that I would gladly say were justifiable, yet ladies have accomplished a lot of authority. They get to vote, own and run businesses, go to higher academia of their choosing. Up until recently women had their own “ladies” restrooms. These are some acts of comeuppance not afforded in many other continents. Now, if we are to get into the idea that these planned marches were just about the rights of a female to decide to keep or not keep an unborn fetus in her womb then we will have to debate this another day. I have made my case on abortion. There is contraceptives. Some companies have stated that they will not allow their employee’s paid health benefits include contraceptives. They see it going against their Christian values, one that they would not allow. Not on their dime.
This march produced some of the most vile commentary one would hope to not have to hear. Truly disgusting and it was taken off track from what the true marches were intended. On the other side there were very peaceful, civil marches for Pro-Life and much of the mainstream media chose to not show.
Immigration has left a black eye on this country for a long time now. Many have queried how to take care of the issue but none seem to fulfill their promises to subside the influx of immigrants coming across our borders. The situation ceases to exist for me once I hear that one might have migrated into the U.S. illegally. There is a right and a wrong way of coming into this country. The U.S. have many problems of their own that need correcting first. There are 65 other countries around the globe that have some form of “do not enter” barriers. Some may see that not allowing immigrants from entering is broaching on a religious requirement-one to care for, feed, clothe and protect and share the gospel of the Lord and Savior. This country has reached across the oceans millions of times in a zillion ways of helping the poor and needy. We have, without question been a grateful and loving nation that has been blessed with wonderful resources of giving.
Most importantly we have lost our sights on the Lord and have used many other means of demeaning our enemies. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. Psalm 107:29
Let me end with this: these groups of haters and naysayers need our prayers emphatically. I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:1-5
